Questions
Frequently asked.
Which ships need an IHM?
Ships of 500 GT and above: under the EU Ship Recycling Regulation, every EU-flagged ship and any ship calling at an EU port; under the Hong Kong Convention, ships flying the flag of a state that has ratified it.
What are IHM Parts I, II and III?
Part I lists the hazardous materials in the ship’s structure and equipment and stays on board for her whole life. Parts II (operationally generated waste) and III (stores) are added when the ship is prepared for recycling.
What are MDs and SDoCs?
Material Declarations and Suppliers’ Declarations of Conformity: suppliers’ statements of the hazardous materials in what they deliver. They are how the inventory stays current as equipment and spares are added.
